As far back as I can remember, I've always had an interest in biology and medicine. In my late teens, I even visited the local hospital and somehow convinced them to let me use their lab at night. Although, I really only used their microscopes to do some very simple things, its always been something that I've looked back on as a "signpost" of sorts for a road not taken.

Well, it's over 25 years later and even with a new gray hair showing up every few months I still find biology tremendously interesting.

With that in mind, a few years back I decided to revive my interest and put some serious effort into building up my biology background. At first it was a very casual endeavor but then I started to realize that layering a formal biology framework on such a highly technical background as mine might actually yield something that may in fact help some people... and that just encouraged me all the more.

Where do things stand today? It's definitely an ongoing story filled with a few challenges, some big decisions, and an even bigger U-Haul truck...but thus far its also a story that finds me at Harvard either happily sitting in lecture, working in the lab on a class assignment, or at home studying.

Some of the more interesting semesters have been those focusing on immunology, cancer, and molecular biology. But if I had to pick the most fascinating, then I'd have to say that spending a recent semester studying Neurobiology tops the list.
